Welcome to Tavistock Area Christians Together
T.A.C.T. – Many Churches, One Purpose
Welcome to Tavistock Area Christians Together (TACT), a fellowship of Christian churches and congregations serving Tavistock and the surrounding area.
Although we represent a variety of Christian traditions and denominations, we share one purpose. Together, we worship God, proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and serve our community with compassion, generosity and hope.
Being Christians Together means far more than simply working alongside one another. We build genuine friendships across our churches. We celebrate our shared faith while valuing our individual traditions. Above all, we seek a deeper and more visible unity in Christ. Rather than allowing our differences to divide us, we see them as part of the richness of the Christian faith.
TACT encourages that unity through worship and practical service. Together, we support initiatives that make a real difference across our community. These include the Foodbank, Healing Rooms, Street Pastors, School Pastors, school mentoring, community celebrations and many other projects that demonstrate God’s love in action.
This website helps you discover the churches that make up TACT. You can also find local Christian events, learn about our community work and explore the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
Whether you have followed Jesus for many years, are new to the Christian faith or are simply curious to learn more, you will receive a warm welcome at every TACT church.

About Us
Tavistock’s Christian story stretches back more than one thousand years. In AD 974, people founded a Benedictine Abbey in the heart of the town. For generations, it served as a place of worship, learning and hospitality. Although the Abbey closed during the Reformation in 1539, its spiritual legacy still shapes Tavistock today.
Many people describe Tavistock as a town with a unique sense of community, care and peace. We believe this reflects a rich Christian heritage. That heritage lives on through the churches and people who continue to serve the town with faith, compassion and hope.
TACT brings together churches from many Christian traditions, including Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed, Pentecostal and independent fellowships. Every church has its own identity and style of worship. However, we all share our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to serving the community together.
Through prayer, fellowship and practical action, we demonstrate God’s love every day. We support local charities, care for people in need, encourage young people and share the hope found in the Gospel. By working together, we achieve far more than we could ever achieve alone.
